BJP Takes Action Amid Sexual Exploitation Allegations Against Party Member
The BJP in Uttar Pradesh is facing significant turmoil following allegations against Prabhat Yadav, a party office-bearer accused of blackmailing and sexually exploiting a woman doctor. The party's state leadership swiftly responded, with district president Bhupendra Chauhan announcing Yadav's immediate expulsion and removal from all organizational roles due to indiscipline.
Chandpur circle officer Desh Deepak confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed based on the doctor's claims. He stated that law enforcement is currently gathering evidence and will determine the next steps pending the investigation's findings. The FIR charges Yadav under multiple serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including allegations of administering an intoxicating substance (Section 123), extortion (Section 308(2)), criminal intimidation (Section 351(3)), and sexual harassment (Section 75(2)).
In response to the accusations, Yadav has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, labeling the claims as unfounded and suggesting he is the target of a political conspiracy. He insists that he maintained a familial relationship with the complainant and alleged that another BJP member was using his name to blackmail her. As the police investigation unfolds, all eyes are on the evidence collected.
The unfolding scandal has ignited a political firestorm, prompting opposition parties to challenge the BJP's ethical integrity. Internal discussions within the party have intensified, particularly after a faction in Bijnor accused Yadav and another leader of extortion through alleged explicit materials. Notably, a young party member who initially made these allegations later retracted his statements. Following the inquiry, a three-member committee was formed, leading to Yadav's expulsion after the report's conclusions were delivered.
