Sebi Considers Expanding Futures and Options Contracts

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is currently exploring the possibility of implementing longer-term futures and options contracts. This initiative aims to enhance the depth of the markets by also focusing on broader commodity derivatives and bond index derivatives.

Despite facing global uncertainties and market volatility, Sebi pointed out the strength of domestic capital markets. The regulator noted the significant participation from local investors and a healthy pipeline of initial public offerings (IPOs), which bodes well for future market stability.
