Raut Alleges Incentives for MPs to Defect to Shinde Faction

Sanjay Raut has firmly rejected claims that five MPs from the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction of Shiv Sena are considering a split. He emphasized that these MPs recently participated in a meeting led by party chief Uddhav Thackeray, reaffirming their loyalty to his leadership.

“This is a lie. We have no such information. Four days ago, all these MPs took part in a meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray and expressed faith in his leadership,”
Raut stated during a press conference.

In a parallel response, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC also dismissed rumors suggesting that her party aimed to engineer defections from rival groups. She declared that there was

“no interest in breaking any party.”
Shaina highlighted the grassroots appeal of Eknath Shinde, asserting,
“He doesn’t work from home.”

Contrasting these denials, Shiv Sena MLC Krupal Tumane fueled speculation regarding an "Operation Tiger," reminiscent of the party's 2022 split. Tumane claimed that negotiations with seven UBT MPs were progressing and suggested they might soon align with the Shinde faction before Parliament's monsoon session. The current political climate in Maharashtra is abuzz with rumors of potential defections, as seven of the nine UBT MPs reportedly engage with Shinde's camp.
