Karnataka Political Landscape: Breakfast Meeting Between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar Tomorrow

In a significant political development, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to meet Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for breakfast tomorrow. This meeting comes amid ongoing discussions regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha and Karnataka Legislative Council elections, as clarified by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal. He emphasized that the focus of their talks would remain strictly on these electoral matters, dismissing any rumors of a leadership shift within the party.

Venugopal stated,

“Today, we had a detailed meeting with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP Rahul Gandhi. The entire discussion was concentrated only on the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and Council Elections of Karnataka.”
He characterized speculation surrounding a potential leadership change as unfounded and noted that candidate announcements would be made alongside those from other states.

The chatter about a leadership transition has intensified since the state government marked two and a half years in office last year. Supporters of Shivakumar have hinted at his potential ascent to the Chief Minister's role, while others within the party are backing veteran leader G Parameshwara for the top position. This internal debate reflects the dynamic political atmosphere within the Congress party.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has a packed schedule on Wednesday, participating in several events in Bengaluru, including tributes to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on the anniversary of his death. His first engagement will be a remembrance program at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office at 10:30 am, followed by another tribute at Vidhana Soudha at 11:00 am. While no press conference is planned, updates about his activities may be forthcoming later in the day.

The upcoming breakfast meeting between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar is being closely monitored, as it may offer insights into the party's internal dynamics and future strategies in Karnataka. (ANI)
