Congress Takes Aim at Modi Amid Protests Over Inflation and Political Maneuvering

The Congress Party is gearing up for a significant protest following the rejection of former MP Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh. Party insiders indicate that state legislators are being summoned to Delhi to strategize their next moves. In a broader context, Congress is finalizing plans for a nationwide campaign aimed at issues it believes will resonate with the electorate. Leadership emphasized the need to bolster the organization in preparation for upcoming elections, although specific electoral discussions will be held separately. K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, articulated the party's intent to mobilize grassroots support, stating,

“To take the message of the Modi regime’s misrule to the people, we will launch the nationwide campaign.”

Jairam Ramesh added that the BJP's ambitions regarding delimitation are misguided, asserting that the party will struggle to achieve the necessary two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha. He remarked,

“Their ego was hurt after the Bill on delimitation was defeated in the House. Whatever the Home Minister may do, the BJP will not get a two-thirds majority.”

Amid these discussions, Rahul Gandhi reaffirmed Congress's position as the primary challenger to the BJP and its ideological partner, the RSS, expressing confidence in the party's resilience and future strength.

Ramesh also addressed speculation about a potential merger with the Trinamool Congress, dismissing these rumors following meetings involving prominent party figures, including Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee.
