In Modi’s NDA meet address, a message of ‘collective win’, a call for nuclear energy self-reliance

Modi Highlights Achievements and Future Goals at NDA Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of prioritizing the nation over party politics in his address at the NDA meeting. He stated that with a "nation first" mindset, no decision is too daunting. Reflecting on past challenges, he noted, “Previously, governments were afraid to even discuss Article 370. We abolished it and implemented a single Constitution across the country.” Modi also highlighted the restoration of peace in the Northeast and India's decisive military actions against terrorism, claiming the world has seen India's strength through initiatives like Operation Sindoor.

Looking back at the NDA's twelve-year tenure, Modi pointed out that these accomplishments were achieved despite global instability, asserting that a stable government is crucial for progress. He called for a renewed push towards renewable energy, targeting 500 gigawatts, while also stressing the need to accelerate nuclear energy development. “We have demonstrated to the world just how far India has advanced in fast breeder reactor technology,” he stated, indicating that India is on a path to self-reliance in nuclear energy.

Modi also expressed his vision for the future, predicting that soon, citizens will fly in domestically manufactured aircraft. He encouraged competition among states to become the first trillion-dollar economy and innovation hubs. He took pride in the NDA’s role in lifting over 25 crore people out of poverty, attributing this success to the trust the public placed in the NDA following the Congress era. “We must not let those who were poor yesterday, and have now become the ‘neo middle class,’ slip back,” he stressed, urging public representatives to work tirelessly to meet the aspirations of 1.4 billion citizens.

Critiquing the Congress party, Modi alleged that previous administrations had instilled a belief that rapid growth was unattainable. “They very cleverly called it the Hindu growth rate… when it should have been called the Congress growth rate,” he remarked. He contrasted the current administration's achievements, such as the increase in mobile phone production and solar capacity, with the stagnation of the past, showcasing India's advancements in various sectors.

Addressing the middle class, Modi acknowledged their struggles before 2014, highlighting the government’s efforts to alleviate their burdens. He noted that income up to Rs 12 lakh is now tax-free, and a simplified tax system has emerged. "The government is also helping to fulfil the dream of home ownership for the middle class,” he remarked, referencing initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat scheme and GST reforms, which have paved the way for new opportunities.
