Congress’s Jairam calls Modi ‘anpadh’, announces India-wide stir over inflation, NEET, Natarajan row

Congress Plans Nationwide Protests Over Multiple Issues

During a crucial meeting on Thursday, Congress officials addressed the controversial rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. Party sources revealed that Congress legislators from the state have been summoned to Delhi, where plans for a protest and further actions are expected to unfold. The party has labeled the rejection as a politically charged move and is weighing its legal and political options to contest the decision.

In addition, Congress leadership outlined a strategy for a nationwide agitation, targeting issues they believe will resonate deeply with voters across India. The meeting aimed to fortify party organization while also preparing for upcoming elections, although separate discussions will be held specifically for electoral strategies.

“We will launch a nationwide campaign to communicate the Modi regime’s mismanagement to the public. From the grassroots to Parliament, we will unite those affected and convey a strong message: while we stand with ordinary citizens, the Modi-led BJP aligns with the elite,” stated K.C. Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, via social media.

He further expressed concern over ongoing challenges like recurring examination leaks and rampant unemployment, which are eroding the aspirations of young people. “Families are under immense pressure as the economy falters, wreaking havoc on household finances. SC, ST, and OBC communities are facing systemic injustices and targeted marginalization,” Venugopal added.

Jairam Ramesh criticized the BJP’s ambitions regarding delimitation, asserting that the ruling party will struggle to achieve the two-thirds majority needed to pass the Delimitation Bill, despite its attempts to lure members from opposition parties. “Their egos were bruised after the Bill was defeated in the House. They are now resorting to desperate measures,” Ramesh remarked.

Additionally, Rahul Gandhi reinforced the party’s resilience, declaring that Congress remains the only viable alternative to the BJP and RSS. He expressed confidence in the party's future, asserting it has remained intact despite attempts to undermine it. Ramesh also dismissed rumors of a potential merger between Congress and the Trinamool Congress, following recent meetings involving key party leaders.
